Charity Shop haul; Patterns and fabric

Happy New Year! I hope that this festive season has been good for you, and that you are feeling sufficiently refreshed for 2015! I don’t go back to uni for another week + so I am making the most of my time at home, and all the good food I can eat!

I went on a shopping trip with my mama and my sister on the 30th, and it was a very good haul, especially for sewing!

I bought fabric and patterns, but from charity shops, so I was just doing my bit to raise money for good causes…

Okay, onto my haul!

First up is three yards of some sort of fabric for £2.49, a double flat sheet (which is more greeny/blue in real life) for £3, two pillow cases for £1.99 and a crib sheet with clouds for £1.99.

The blue fabric will become a top I think (as most of my fabric is destined to become this year following my sewing goals!), and the pillow cases will most probably be used as lining for pouches. My mum has already asked for another one, and this will happen for her birthday I think!

I love the cloud fabric, it is really so sweet! I think I will use the flat sheet as an actual flat sheet, but I’m not sure for how long, as the material really deserves to be some sort of outfit! Maybe crop top and shorts or a skirt or something… we will see!

I also bought myself a dress for £8, which is very nice, however the red part is not as fitted as I would have liked, and it is scratchy anyway. So that will be unstitched and at some point replaced by a nicer feeling fabric. I don’t know what, and I do not know when, but that is a planned refashion. Watch this space!

Now onto patterns! I bought the first one for 50p and then all the rest for a £2 donation (which ended up as 14p each!!!) Basically, I was sorting through the patterns I wanted, and the lovely man at the counter just told me I could have all of them. So. Here I am!

The blue and yellow tops look adorable; I like the diamond cut out in the front!

I really love this one, I am so excited to try it out! Not sure why the photo is so blurry but there you go. That is another thing I need to get better at; photography. Your poor eyes!

2014-12-30 19.14.03

This looks good too; I would love to make myself a jump suit, but that is probably out of my expertise zone for the moment….

I bought some more vogue patterns! One of which is from 1922, and the other is a 90s Anne Klein blouse pattern. Exciting stuff!

I also bought myself a sewing magazine. I am toying with the idea of getting a subscription, so I am trying out all the ones I can find, starting with the one below. And if I am going to get extra patterns, I am not going to complain!

I have several more blog posts in mind, so this will not be the last you hear from me today!

New Fabrics and Patterns

Hello hello!

I have been doing a lot of sewing, none of which I can blog about until after christmas, as most of them are presents!

I did go shopping at the weekend, and bought some new fabric from a stall in the market. I spent £2.50, which equates roughly to 36p a piece of fabric!

2014-12-13 16.56.49 2014-12-13 16.57.15 2014-12-13 16.57.40 2014-12-13 16.58.04 2014-12-13 16.58.38

I really like them, even if they are small, but really, all I am going to use them for is to line pouches (which is all I seem to be making at the moment) I also love the christmas fabric awh!

I also went charity shopping, and found two patterns for a total of 40p. (Even I am impressed with that!)

Knitting! Charity Shop Haul

Hello hello!

I am trying my hand at knitting, spurred on by my recent trip to the charity shops.

I spotted two bags of wool for £1.50 each;

The blue is double knit and the red and white are chunky.

You can see the started kitten blanket; I only began on Tuesday so I am pretty pleased!

I also bought two new sewing patterns; a blazer/cardigan and a drop waisted jumper dress. All very exciting and very cheap; 50 p each!

Charity Shop Haul – Patterns and a celebration!

Hello hello!

Today I thought I would share with you some of the amazing things I bought in charity shops in Exeter and Plymouth. This will be a photo heavy post!

I bought a couple of zips (brand new in their packaging) for 49p each (!)

2014-10-30 09.39.01

And this pattern for 49p in the same shop; (I’m thinking of making view E)

2014-10-30 09.39.16

The rest of the patterns I bought for 50p each;

Not too bad in my opinion!

I also bought a bag of assorted buttons for 33p (to add to my rapidly expanding button collection)

That is all I have to show you for today, but I will keep you posted on any more hauls!

You may have noticed in the title of this post, I mentioned a celebration. Well WordPress have just informed me that I have reached 50 likes on Sewpunny, and 30 followers. This is a small amount in comparison to more prolific sewing bloggers, but I am very proud, and so thankful to those who take the time to read my rambles, comment, like and follow.

Every time I get a notification, I am so excited, it really makes my day!

So thank you everyone!

Charity Shop Haul – Fabrics

I don’t know if you will be interested in reading these kinds of posts, but I am obsessed with charity shopping. Honestly, I love it. And I went shopping the other day and bought a load of stuff which I am really pleased with, and so I thought I would share!

So first up is a pair of children’s curtains which are so so so precious! I have seen them several times and resisted buying them as they are a lil pricey, but I caved in and got them anyway!

2014-10-25 17.31.10

Just look at the cute giraffes and lions and crocodiles and birds and awh! These cost £4.95 (ouch) and I am not 100% sure what they will turn into, but I am sure I will find something! I also bought some netting from the same shop for £1.95, which again I’m not sure what will be made with it, but it had deer and little birds on (so cute!). I don’t have a nice photo as it is still drying from the washing machine.

The next find was a-mazing. It was in a shop in which you can buy 6 items for £5, and so everything I bought was less than a pound.

2014-10-25 17.30.51

(I know these are terrible photos but shh). So I just got out my calculator and worked out that this cost me about 83p which is amazing! It is also a curtain I think, but there is only one. It is such a gorgeous colour oh my lawd. I was thinking a dress or a skirt but just now I have had a flash of inspiration and might make myself a top and shorts set. So lovely oh my!

I also went to Oxfam and was really surprised to only spend £1.99! I know it is for a good cause, but I always find that their prices are slightly higher than other shops? Anyway, I bought this sheet;

2014-10-25 17.31.30

(another awful photo). I straight away thought skirt and the geese can be the bottom trim howeverrr I don’t think I have enough geese so it may be the trim on the waistband. Anyway, it is super cute and I love the stripes also!

The last bit of fabric I bought was another pair of curtains, this time with Winnie the Pooh on them. I know, what was I thinking? It cost £2.99, and can be made into something cute, I am pretty sure. Hopefully anyway!

2014-10-25 17.30.35

Cute though right?

I actually bought a top in size 18 for a pound which I am planning on refashioning, but that also is still drying so I can’t show you yet. Watch this space for that blog post though!

The last last last things I bought were two sewing patterns, for 50p each.

2014-10-24 17.19.12 2014-10-24 17.19.18

(Ohhh I give up! Been trying for a few minutes to turn the right way round and wordpress is nottt cooperating )

I’m quite tempted to give sewing my own trousers a go, but I am a little reluctant as I have heard it is quite difficult. I am excited about trying to sew my own blouse (better than my last attempt hopefully!) And for 50p, who is complaining!
